approach is prescribed to commence.

FinalApproach:

That part of an instrument approachprocedurewhich

commences at the specifiedfinal approachfixor point, orwhere such

afixor point is not specified:

• at the endof the last procedure turn, base turnor inbound turnof

a racetrack procedure, if specified; or

• at thepoint of interceptionof the last track specified in the

approachprocedure; and

• ends at apoint in the vicinityof an aerodrome fromwhichal

anding canbemade, or amissedapproach is initiated.

FinalApproachAltitude:

The specified altitudeatwhichfinal

approach is commenced.

FinalApproach Fix (FAF):

A specifiedpoint on anon-precision

instrument approachwhich identifies the commencement of thefinal

segment.

FinalApproachPoint (FAP):

A specifiedpoint on theglidepathof a

precision instrument approachwhich identifies the commencement of

thefinal segment.

Note: The FAP is co-incidentwith theFAFof a localiser basednon-

precision approach.

FinalApproachSegment:

That segment of an instrument

approachprocedure inwhich alignment anddescent for landingare

accomplished.

FinalLeg:

Thepathof anaircraft in a straight line immediately

preceding the landing (alighting) of the aircraft.

Fix:

Ageographical positionof an aircraft at a specific timedetermined

by visual reference to the surface, or bynavigational aids.

FlightFile:

Afile storedon theNAIPS systemwhich contains stored

briefings, or a storedflight notification. Flight files areownedbypilots

and/or operators, andupdated at their request.
