RunwayStrip:
Thedefined area, including the runway (and stopway

The rangeoverwhich thepilot of an
aircraft on the centre lineof a runway can see the runway surface

position reportingprocedures, scheduled reporting times (SKEDS), or
SARTIME.
SearchandRescue (SAR):
The act of finding and returning to safety,
aircraft andpersons involved in an emergencyphase.
SearchandRescueRegion (SRR):
The specifiedareawithinwhich
search and rescue is coordinatedby aparticular RescueCoordination
Centre.
SegmentMinimumSafeAltitude:
The lowest altitudeatwhich the
minimumobstacle clearance is provided.
SegregatedParallelOperations:
Simultaneous operations on
parallel or near-parallel instrument runways inwhichone runway
is used exclusively for approaches and theother runway is used
