Note 2: Carriage of radio, and being qualified touse it, aremandatory at

non-towered aerodromes depicted inERSA as being certified,

registered ormilitary. However, CAR 166E allows, subject to

compliancewith specified procedures, for useof such aerodromes

without servicable radio. SeeENR1.1Para 20.2.5. andCAAP

166-1(0).

Note 3: An aircraft is in the vicinity of a non-towered aerodrome if it is

in airspaceother than controlled airspace, within10nmof the

aerodrome and at a height above the aerodrome that could result in

conflictwith operations at the aerodrome.

Note 4: Some distances above refer to the runway threshold and others to

the aerodrome referencepoint (ARP). Pilots shouldbe aware that a

GPS indication of 3 nm from an aerodromemay not be 3nm to the

runway threshold.
