ATIS

At aerodromes specified inERSA the normal operational information

required by aircraft prior to take-off or landing is broadcast automatically

and continuously either on a discrete frequency or on the voice channel of

oneormore radio navigation aids. The broadcastmay be pre-recorded or

computerised.

When control zones are deactivated theATISmay be used tobroadcast

operational information of an unchanging nature. This informationmay

include theCTAFPAL frequency, preferred runways and noise abatement

procedures. Itmay also include the expected reopening time of the tower.

Pilots areencouraged tomonitor theATIS outside thenormal hours of the

tower. There is no need to nominate receipt of theATIS codewithCTAF

reports.

The following information is transmitted on theATIS: (aerodrome) TERMINAL

INFORMATION (code letter ALPHA, BRAVO, etc, as assigned to each

separately prepared transmission). ZULU is not used. TIME (hhmmUTC)

{Timeof observations, if appropriate} Typeof approach expectation; e.g.

“EXPECT ILSAPPROACH”, etc.

RUNWAY (number), [DAMP], [WET], [WATERPATCHES] [FLOODED]

(if applicable);

or

More thanone runway inuse:

RUNWAY/S (number/s) AND (number/s) FORARRIVALS,
