• the fuel supplies are sufficient for the particular flight;
• the requiredoperating andother crewmembers areonboard and in afit
state to perform their duties;
• if applicable the air traffic control instructions have been compliedwith;
• the aircraft is safe for flight in all respects;
• the latest of the aeronautical maps, charts and other aeronautical
information and instructions, are carried in the aircraft and are readily
accessible to thepilot.
DESIGNATIONOFAPILOT INCOMMAND (CAR224)
For each flight the operator (owner, flying school, or hireorganisation)must
designate one pilot to act as pilot in command.
Thepilot in command is responsible for:
• the start, continuation, diversion and end of the flight; and
• the operation and safety of the aircraft duringflight; and
• the safety of persons and cargo carriedon the aircraft; and
• the conduct and safety ofmembers of the crew.
Aspilot incommandyoumustdischarge these responsibilities inaccordancewith:
• any information, instructions or directions issuedunder theCivil Aviation
Act or Regulations; and
• the operationsmanual provided by the aircraft operator if applicable.
You also have final authority as to the disposition of the aircraftwhile you are
in command and for themaintenance of discipline by all persons on board.
POWERSOFPILOT INCOMMAND (CAR309)
Thepilot in command of an aircraft, with such assistance as is necessary and
reasonable,may:
• take such action, including the removal of a person from the aircraft or
the placing of a personunder restraint or in custody, by force, as the pilot
considers reasonably necessary to ensure compliancewith theAct or
theseRegulations in or in relation to the aircraft; and
