Are provided at aerodromeswhere a control tower is established. This
servicemay also beprovidedby aCA/GRS or UNICOM, details ofwhich can
be obtained inERSA.
Take-off and landing reports are included onATIS, where available, or passed
to aircraft reporting taxiingor inbound. Take-off and landing reports contain, as
available, the following:
• wind velocity, with direction in degreesmagnetic;
• altimeter setting;
• air temperature (if appropriate to the type of aircraft);
• low cloud, if significant;
• visibility, if significant - inmetres up to and including 5000m, above
this value in km. A visibility greater than10 km is given as ‘VISIBILITY
GREATER THAN 10KM’.
• additional items, ie extent of cloud below themain ceiling, disposition and
intensity of rain, reported turbulence area;
• CAVOK - when the following conditions are observed to occur
simultaneously:
– visibility of 10 km ormore;
– no cloudbelow 5000 ft or below the highestminimum sector altitude,
whichever is the greater, and no cumulonimbus;
– no precipitation, thunderstorm, shallow fog, lowdrifting snowor dust
devils.When the termCAVOK is used, the elements low cloud, visibility
and additional itemswill not be advised.
