CASA recommends that the followingbe undertaken (seeCAAP234-1):
• determine total fuel capacity and useable fuel (refer Aircraft Flight
Manual);
• determine fuel consumption rates (refer Pilot’sOperatingHandbook);
• familiarise yourselfwith the aircraft’s fuel systems;
• check fuel availability enroute (note suppliers andoperating hours);
• plan to arrivewith all fuel reserves intact - never plan touse fixed or
variable reserve fuel;
• weight versus fuel. (Keep inmind that youmay not be able to carry full
tanks); and
• checkweather to determine holding and/or alternate fuel requirements.
