In reports, terminal forecasts and low level area forecasts, the amount of

cloudwill be indicated by the following abbreviations:

Theonly cloud type that are included in aeronautical code format are towering

cumulus (TCU) and cumulonimbus (CB). Forecasts innarrative form, such

as low level area forecasts, will include cloud types other thanCB and

TCUwhen appropriate; and in the case of CB and TCU, the amountwill be

indicated as follows:

ISOL

isolated

for individual CBs

OCNL occasional

forwell-separatedCBs

FREQ frequent

for CBswith littleor no separation

EMBD embedded embedded in layers of other cloud

GOOD

is used in the visibility section of low level area forecasts to indicate

a visibility greater than10 kmover the entire area.Whenweather elements

are forecast to reduce the visibility below 10 km,

is replacedby those

elements and their associated visibilities. Note that the visibility remains

greater than 10 km in parts of the area unaffected by those elements.
