CPL Performance Final Test - Question 39

Hi,

Longtime watcher first time poster here - just wondering if I am missing something in the Answer to Question 39 in the Final Test. I got the same answer as the book 58gal however it has the correct answer as [d], the options in the question were -
[a] 59.1g
(b) 55.5g
[c] 52.5g
[d] 60g
I had picked [a] since it was the closest to 58g however the answer [d] is shown as the correct one, just not sure if perhaps I have missed something there?

I checked that one out. The answer had been amended after the introduction of the new CAAP that says variable reserve does not apply to the trip to the alternate. The worked answer in the current book reflects that, but the answer indicated was based on the old CAAP where you did need the variable reserve for the alternate.

So the working is correct, but someone (probably me), neglected to change the answer given. I've fixed that now. The answer indicated is now (a).

Thanks Bob, a suggestion to update Performance Errata.
Page 102. instead of
(50+15)x1.15+15+3=93gal
should be
50x1.15+15+15+3=90.5gal

Also results from exercise 4.15 on page 127.

G'day Bosi

The variable reserve is 10% and that calculation is 50x 1.1 +15 +15 +3 = 88

The other answers on page 127 are correct
