Does "search fuel" require a var res?

If I were planning a flight to a location to conduct "search" type air work would I be expected to carry a variable reserve for the AWK?

Say I had to fly to a location and conduct a search in a 10nm rad for 100min would I have to carry a 15min var res for that 100min component of the flight to comply with the caap?

There is no legal reason to carry a variable reserve for a search. It's not a charter anyway, it's aerial work. However the examiner may specify that you are to carry it. This will be made clear in the question.
