Hi Bob and Richard,

Just on pages 3.28 and 3.29 trying to reverse engineer the Townsville to Chillagoe temp and qnh from the TAF, which is valid from 2202/2214 UTC, with a departure at 0600 UTC (not local) for a 0705 UTC arrival over Chillagoe.

The entry arguments used say temp is 33 deg c and QNH of 1009 both from TAF, but when I read the TAF I see this:

Taf based on validity between 2202 and 2214 UTC - therefore, based on the starting temp of 30 deg C and QNH of 1009 at 2202, I would expect to see at 2205 (3 hrs) a change for temp of 32 deg C and QNH of 1009 (again), and the NEXT change I would expect to see at 2208 (55 minutes AFTER arrival) of 33 deg C and QNH of 1008.

The example though uses a QNH of 1009 and temp of 33 deg C from TAF, however based on it being in the second 3 hour period that being of 32 deg (not 33 deg as stated) and a QNH of 1009 (as stated).

Please correct me if I am wrong, but this would appear to be an error?

Oh and one last question - it would appear that the Echo Aircraft is a Piston and not a Turboprop based on the fuel weights at 1L of avgas being 0.72kg?

Can you also confirm if the CASA exam for Performance uses the error of 0.71kg per L or 0.72 - I saw Richards post but not sure if it apply's to Performance or just other exams that use loading system Charlie.

Let me know - thanks!

Brook
