brentonrule created the topic: Forecast Abbreviations

Hi Bob, Richard.

Back into the study now and just about through the met book. I may be missing something but I cannot see anywhere in the AIP that refers to some of the abbreviations in the book:

Page 7.9
YLRE refers VCPO - I can see that PO=Dust Devils but I cannot see anywhere that says VC is Vicinity (I assume this is Vicinity?)

YSWG refers RERASH - Weather Decode says RA=Rain SH=Showers but what does RE mean? Is it Regular?

Page 7.15 YMML refers WX NIL. WX is not in the AIP chart but I do know that WX is weather. Can you point me to where this is formally described in the AIP

Thanks again.

OK Brenton, I've found it now.

VC does mean 'vicinity' See AIP GEN 2.2 page 44 [general abbreviations].

RE means 'recent'. See AIP GEN 3.5 para 12.18.1a.

RE is also found in general definitions GEN 2.2 page 40.
