Enroute Weather Conditions

mrchavez created the topic: Enroute Weather Conditions

This might sound a bit strange but...

When asked for "enroute weather conditions" should the ARFOR be the only data considered?
I would think the Departure and Arrival Aerodrome TAF's (if valid) should also come under consideration but I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ian,

The ARFOR is what they're asking about but I've found it useful to also use TAF's for the departure, destination aerodromes and ones in between also to get a feel of what is happening, then put it all together.

When specifically asked for what weather to expect at time 0730 on a flight between YSWA (departing at 0545) and YMER (arrival at 0815) or something similar, the question is asking you to interpret the ARFOR

Thanks Captain

I don't seem to have an issue with decodes I just struggle with what specifically the question is asking.

For example:
Enroute weather for segment XXXX (simple enough)
Weather encountered during flight XXXX (grey area for me)

Thanks again
Ian
