Vicinity - VC
172_Freighter created the topic: Vicinity - VC
Completed Aerodynamics yesterday with a score of 95% Now to finish the Met study!
Seeking some clarification on the qualifer VC as mentioned in AIP GEN3.5 p12.10.5.
It states "... in the vicinity (between approximately 8 and 16km of aerodrome reference point) of the aerodrome"
Is that to say that VC = within 8km or 16km of the aerodrome (i.e a circle of 8km or 16km radius of the ref point)
VC= the area subtended between 8km and 16km radius of the ref point (i.e a circle of 16km radius with an 'inner' 8km radius circle removed.
Congratulations on our pass 172. That's great news
As for your question, the aerodrome forecasts or reports are referring to the area within 5nm (8km) of the aerodrome. If they say VC, they mean the conditions mentioned are not within the aerodrome area but are still within approximately 16 km of the aerodrome. In other words, between 8km and 16km out.
