Welcome to the IREX question and answer forum. Please feel free to post your questions but more importantly also suggest answers for your forum colleagues. Bob himself or one of the other tutors will get to your question as soon as we can.
A quick note to thank Bob and his excellent book. Passed my IREX today and don’t know how I could have achieved this without the resources Bob has created. Highly recommend the text and exam papers to everyone. If it’s permitted I can provide feedback on the exam questions
Let me know
Regards
Gerard
Hi Eric
Several questions on alternates
Question on appropriate volmet frequency
Choosing an appropriate IFR level given LSALT and freezing level
Understand how to read ERC and approach charts
Know how to use your PCA
Be familiar with recency requirements and given a timeline of events know how to figure out what you need to do if anything to be legal for an upcoming flight
Understand nav aid requirements for 91 and 135. Understand the limitations of a TSOn129 (outline in MOS91) and again in 135. If you are using ATSL 129 to navigate you, must navigate to your alternate using a ground based aid
Understand how to use the HAT trick
When asked a question regarding radios, make sure you understand whether you are navigating to or from the station e.g. they will tell you what radial you are on or direct you to the ERC and ask you how to navigate to the station. Simple as long as you don’t misunderstand the question
Understand the 1 in 60 rule and know how to use it
Highlight appropriate sections in your documents and use tags for your AIP to enable you to quickly find references
Answer all the questions in the Bob Tait book, including the practice exams and consider doing the Rob Avery exams, which give you a slightly different slant with questions
