Hi Bob and Stuart,

Can i please get help with the following question... attached below.

Archerfield's Elevation for runway 10L is 63ft (from DAP) ..... The Altimeter reads 110ft with the QNH properly set.... doesn't this fall into tolerance?.

Hi Stuart,

Rocky is out of tolerance, why did the pilot elect to check the the altimeter a second time?... I must have a misunderstanding of the requirements. My understanding is that if the Altimeter is in tolerance ie: less the 60ft +-, you are good to go, no need to check again.... if its between 60ft and 75ft you can take off but you need to check again at the next available point. couldnt in theory the pilot make it all the way to Mackay due to the first check being in tolerance (Archerfield), out at Rocky which means they could take off to Mackay and legally have to check it again there?.

Hi Stuart,

i think my brain has kicked the bucket...

check one - Archerfield - runway el - 63ft - altimeter reads 110ft
110-63=47ft OK

check 2 - Rocky - runway el - 36ft - altimeter reads 100ft
100-36=64ft NOT OK

Where does the altimeter show as being out on two consecutive checks as per the answer attached?

Im really sorry to keep bothering you on this what im sure is super simple, but i cant get my head around it...

Cheers Dan.

Ah the perils of self study... exactly why I push the forums so hard when people ask me how to go about passing the exams... you really saved my skin on this one for who knows how many questions in the exam.

Cheers Stuart, appreciate your help!.
