Hi Bob,
Are you going to make some changes and add more about GPS and remove VOR, NDB from the IREX book? I have to sit for exam around mid June, when will those changes will be published?
Thanks in advance for your response,

CASA have told me that questions on NDB and VOR will remain in the IREX until there are no more ground aids in Australia. That won’t be happening any time soon. The current version of the IREX book contains everything the syllabus requires on RNAV/GNSS (GPS), but NDB and VOR are still examined.

The changes occurring on the 26th to VH-OZY's equipment list are -
1. Instead of one TSO 129a RNAV/GNSS from the 26th there will be two TSO 146A RNAV/GNSS
2. Instead of two ILS from the 26th there will be one ILS.
3. From 26th VH-OZY will have no DME.

That means that from the 26th
1. VH-OZY will no longer require an alternate at an aerodrome with no ground-based aids. You will be able to carry out an RNAV/GNSS approach at an aerodrome with no other published approaches.
2. You will be able to use the RNAV/GNSS approach at the departure aerodrome for take-off if you are planning to return to the departure aerodrome in the even to an engine failure in IMC after take-off.
3. VH-OZY does will not qualify for the special alternate minima.

The answers to some of the questions in the book will need to be changed to reflect the new VH-OZY. Keep your eye on our web page for further information.
