Hi Bob, just wanted to let you know I passed the IREX yesterday with 90%. I'm really happy with the result, and I couldn’t have done it without the book, the practice exams and the forum.
IREX is an exam that demands respect. As others have noted, the questions are sometimes ambiguous, often contain irrelevant details, and must always be read carefully. I caught quite a few errors on the second pass, often just a word I hadn't noticed the first time around. A few questions were definitely a bit obscure, and I learned a few things from the AIP I didn't know before the exam!
I noticed there was nothing on PBN, RNP or GPS, even though they account for 2 pages of the part 61 MOS syllabus. It will be interesting to see if this changes after they start switching the radio navaids off later in the year.
Well I guess I need to find an IR instructor now, and go flying.....
