Steve gee created the topic: New Designations for FPAs in the PIFR rating.

Rules and regs.
The good news
PIFR review is now a renewal PIR and you get a few extra days as it expires at the end of the month in two years time.
The other news, if you don't have a new part licence the review is written in your licence under endorsements nothing in the log book any more.
TERMINOLGY of PFA Approvals changes..
Under the new licence rules terminology has changed especially for some of the FPA's
Under the OLD standard entries would look like this
IAL RNAV(GNSS)
NAV GNSS
GNSS HOLD
IAL VOR
etc
If I interpret this correctly
CASA REG 61.935
now states
Navigation VOR/LLZ is to conduct a flight enroute or holding at an aid under FPA Private IFR using a VHF VOR/OMNI/LOCALISER
Navigation GNSS remains unchanged enroute navigation using a GPS.
Approach or IAL VOR/LLZ is using the VHF Omni/Localiser nav system
Approach DME/GNSS can be done using a GPS receiver and a GPS/RNAV NPA is not a required endorsement
APPROACH RNP-APCH-2D is a Navigational Performance Instrument Approach without Vertical Guidance (from a Barometric Aid)
APPROACH RNP APCH 3D is an NPA with altitude obtained from a barometric aid and you must hold the 2D FPA before you can do a 3D FPA
and so on.
I am having some issues filling out flight plans and because NAIPS doesn't store the REMARKS I have to cut and paste three lines in every time I flight plan into CTA with a PIR rating.
Does anyone else have this issue or are some of you neglecting to tell AIR SERVICES you hold only PIFR rating?
Comments welcome
