Hi all,
Just a quick question in relation to runway lighting and alternate requirements. AIP 1.1 58.4.4 (a) makes reference to "Dual VHF"... now this has the feeling of a dumb question to me, however I'll ask anyway! Does a Dual VHF mean 2 separate radios (both with comm1 comm2) or is the dual band in the one VHF radio mean Dual VHF?
I've had a quick look through the appendices of CAO 20.18 and can't see reference to multiple radios being required for any particular ops.. and also haven't seen 2 radios in a plane (based on my extremely limited experience!).

Hi Oscarmike.
That's right! The aircraft must fitted with 2 VHF radios or 1 VHF and 1 HF or enough fuel to hold until first light plus 10minutes.
When you start to progress with your flying you will undoubtably come across aircraft with dual comms and allsorts of other goodies.
