Bula from Fiji,
I seem to be having a problem with the wording of a question. CIR Set 2 Q7
'Flying in IMC from Tamworth to Taree you commence a GPS arrival. You have not maintained recency on RNAV GNSS APP. Passing 3200ft you notice the NDB has failed so you should?'
You answered climb to 4100ft because that is the 10nm MSA (SECTOR A) on the DME/GPS arrivals. Because you know you'll be safe at 4100 ft within 10nm of the aerodrome?
I am confused as the DME/GPS for Sector A says that you can be at 3200ft by 11DME so where can you find the 10nm MSA? I am current with my DAPs by the way. I think

Afternoon,

Your ten mile MSA is shown just below the 25 mile MSA circle "piechart".

You can't just climb to 3200 as you no longer know where you are. There might be terrain to your left or right...
You've lost your ndb or adf, so you cannot guarantee your position any more except for by distance.

So the 10 and 25nm MSA are there as a bit of a fail safe.
