Outofwhack created the topic: Manouevering on instrument approach - allowed?

A recent IREX question asked about the possibility of manouevrering to avoid a rain cloud to maintain VMC during a DME approach.

Is this allowed? and if so with what criteria?

You can still manouevre as long as you stay within the sector until you reach the final approach fix. Past that, you must maintain track until you have reached the circling area and have at least the visual circling weather, or, conduct a missed approach at the MAP.

AIP ENR 1.5-50 DME or GPS arrival procedures.
12.1.3 If manoeuvring within a sector is required, the pilot must ensure
that the aircraft is contained within the sector, at or above the ap-
propriate segment minimum safe altitude. Manoeuvring within a
sector after passing the final approach fix is prohibited.
