IREX Question - Communication failure

Hi Guys,

Just confused about a question in Set EIGHT Question 3 (page 6.13)

Answer given in the back of the book is a.

I'm just wondering why the most correct answer is not b.

I would have thought that seeing you haven't entered class C airspace and the planned route takes you into a very busy airport that it would be better to turn around and make an instrument approach back at Cowra

cheers,

Paul

Paul,

Thanks for your post.

You are not in Class C airspace but you are IFR in Class E and a clearance has been issued and acknowledged. Loss of communication in controlled airspace when in IMC is outlined in ERSA Emergency Page 3 Para 1.5.4 and 1.5.5. That is the answer the examiner would expect.

All the best with your study.
