Hello,

I am currently trying to finish my CPL exams and I have failed CADA and CNAV twice already. This was last year and I want to pass them on my third try so I would like some advise on what I could do before sitting the exam. I got around 60 on my second ADA exam and 63 on the first. The lowest I have ever gotten so far was NAV, I got 55% on the first attempt and I sat the second try 5 days after to which I got 62%. I am considering sitting Operations exam before NAV but are there any suggestions on how I could prepare and make sure to pass? It has been couple months so I am reading the book before sitting them.

Appears that you have not been having a good run there.

It might help in your desire for useful comments, were you to provide a detailed list of what you have done, previously, to prepare yourself for the examinations. The exams, in themselves, are not all that difficult, so it follows that, in all likelihood, there may be gaps in your preparation which need to be addressed ?

Presuming that you have completed your PPL, the CPL work just goes a little bit further into some of the technical details. If you can pass PPL, then CPL should not present a major problem. This presupposes, naturally enough, that your preparation has been sensible in its planning and execution.

Hi Mate,

Trust me when I tell you that many if not most of us will and do fail these exams at some point, I am hard pressed to recall anyone I know of personally that didn’t! The trick is persistence, it is hard when you feel down in the mouth about it I know, but developing and building resilience is a big part of aviation, from a theory stand point, my opinion is you are ready for the exam when you can teach the subject to someone knowing it inside out.

I would hammer out as many practise exams as you can and once you are achieving the high 90’s in these and you are confident you could actually teach the subject matter, then have another go. It is never about learning questions and answers, it is about knowing the material. Don’t despair and don’t give up, the payoff is in your future, stay strong and stay resilient, have a break from it and then come back with a fresh mind-set to overcome these monsters.

All the best and remember we have all been where you are and got through it.
