Perhaps you might have a read through this FAA link www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handboo...edia/08_phak_ch6.pdf

It probably shouldn't have much more than your textbook but it might explain in a way you can relate to. Worth a read right through it, not just the bit on trim tabs.
