Hi,

In the FRMS for appendix 4, question 3 the rest period is included in the FDP whereas in appendix 5, question 3 the rest period is NOT included in the FDP. Why is that?

Thanks,
Carmen

Hi Carmen

In Appendix 4 Question No 3, the rest period is with sleeping accommodation. Therefore the whole 4 hours can be added to the flight duty period. That is, 9 hours becomes 13 hours. In Appendix 5 Question No 3, the rest period is with resting accommodation. That requires the extension of the flight duty period to be reduced from 4 to 2 hours. So the flight duty period can only be extended from 12 hours to 14 hours.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your reply.

But why does the FDP in appendix 5, question 3 end after 18 hours instead of 14 hours? The FCM starts at 08:00 in the morning and leaves work at 02:00 the next day which totals in 18 hours. Shouldn't he stop work at 22:00 the same day?

Thanks,
Carmen

According to my copy of the book, the FDP ends at 2200. If you start at 0800 that makes 14 hours

Thanks for the clarification. I've got the distance learning course from AFT which includes copies of your book and they probably do not have the latest version then...

Thanks for that. I'll have to let them know that they need to update their copy.
