Hi!

I was wondering if someone could save me some time (I've been searching longer than I care to admit) and point me to the Reg, Order or Publication that states the rules or advice in relation to SUCBA diving before a flight?

Many thanks,
OM

I don't know of any civil aviation rules, per se, although I have no doubt that the military will have plenty. There are a few papers on the FAA site - one, which may be of interest, is www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industr.../fasmb/media/dci.pdf.

A net search for DAN and the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society will provide a range of authoritative information. One paper of interest is flightsafety.org/hf/hf_sep-oct91.pdf

As an anecdote, many years ago I had to do a 25,000 ft chamber run prior to some work at ARDU which involved a Mirage trip. We had several divers along on the run .. one had done some diving earlier that day and, apparently, didn't disclose it. I think he wished he were dead until the flight surgeon eventually got the box back onto the ground .. he was bawling his eyes out with the pain .. mostly ear trauma.

Thanks for that John - I'll stop looking!

Great anecdote by the way.
