I have done my KDR long tym back and now I have to get some paper work done. But I forgot how I managed to find the syllabus reference. I downloaded the Day VFR Syllabus and CAR 1988 but I failed to figure it out.

Is there anyone who can help me solving this problem..

Hi Raiyal,

The numbers on the KDR refer to Day VFR syllabus items in section 3, Ground training block 1 and 2.
The numbers break down to:
  • the ground training block
  • the section of that block
  • the subsection
  • the individual items
Lets look at the first one the KDR. You will find this one on page 3-8 of the Day VFR syllabus.

Altimetry Syllabus reference 1.3.3.1(f)
1. Ground training block 1 (if the first number was a 2, then it will be Ground training block 2)
3. Section 3 - FLIGHT RULES AND AIR LAW
3.3. Flight rules and conditions of flight
3.3.1 Recall/apply the following rules/requirements:
3.3.1(f) altimetry procedures for flight below 10,000ft

I guessing that the question would have something to do altimeter settings found in the AIP ENR 1.7

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Mister W

Hi Raiyal,

In your KDR, the first digit of the reference refers to the Ground Block: 1 means Ground Block 1 (page 3-3 of the old VFR syllabus) and 2 means Ground Block 2 (page 3-21). The remaining digits are the references in that ground block.

For example, 1.8.4.1 would be paragraph 8.4.1 in Ground Block 1.

Please be advised the old VFR syllabus is no longer used and the latest KDRs use references from the Part 61 Manual of Standards (MOS) which can be downloaded from CASA: www.comlaw.gov.au/Search/Manual%20of%20Standards

Cheers,

Rich
