Hi Bob,
how are you. I hope you doing well.
Well, I have my air law next week on Monday and i have some trouble of understanding the law .
If you please can help me to explaining to me what they're trying to say?
266A Carrige of animals
2 sburegulation (1) does not apply to dog accompanying a visually impaired or hearing impaired person as a guide or an assistant if the dog:
(a) carried in the passenger cabin of the aircraft
(b) placed on a moisture absorbent mat as near to person as practicable
(c) restrained in a way that will prevent the dog from moving from mat
This subregulation acts as an exemption for guide dogs from the normal rules for the carriage of animals (ie. kept in an appropriate container which is not in the passenger cabin etc etc - see the rest of CAR 256A). The exemption means that blind or deaf people can still keep their guide/assistant dog with them while in the cabin of the aircraft.
However, if the dog is to accompany the person into the cabin, you still need to ensure the dog can't make a mess and can't wander around. Therefore, it needs to be on a moisture-absorbent mat as close to the visually/hearing impaired person as possible and it needs to be restrained so it can't leave the mat and thereby piddle into the electrics running under the floor.
Cheers,
Rich
P.S. i know it was a typo in your post but just for clarity, the regulation is CAR 256A not 266A
