Had some difficulty with a password - appeared to be related to unknown password rules ?   Ended up using a vanilla password for the time being ... which did work.

Perhaps you can either list (or point to where it might be on the website) the limitations for the password.   I can only see a reference to number of characters.

regards,

@john-heddles Sorry this took a while to figure out where these passwords were being controlled from. Currently the Forum is using the standard WordPress Password rules which I agree are a little complex, we will look for better options in the upcoming upgrade. I have reproduced the rules for passwords below. Thanks Paul

WordPress Password Best Practices & Security
  • Length: A minimum of 12 characters is recommended, though 16-20 is ideal for admin accounts.
  • Complexity: Use a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols (@, #, !, *, etc.).
  • Algorithm: WordPress uses the zxcvbn library to score password strength, detecting common words, sequences, and keyboard patterns to warn users against weak passwords.
  • Generation: Use the built-in WordPress generator, which creates 24-character, highly secure, random passwords.
  • Passphrases: Long, random phrases can be secure if they are complex and avoid common phrases, names, or dates.
  • Avoid: Never use simple, predictable passwords like "admin123," "password," or personal information.

@bobtaitsadmin Thanks for that, Paul.

On another tack, I tried to send an email, apparently unsuccessfully, to alert admin to a problem observed.   (a)  Older, existing threads have disappeared and are not found with prior workable URL links.  (b) search function fails to find threads which are known to have existed.

regards,

John

Another query.   How do you edit posts ?  I see no way to reopen and correct an existing post ?

@john-heddles The program had a 3 minute window to edit own post, I have removed that now. You should see the Edit button at the bottom of your post all the time now. This was a good fix thankyou.
