Hey guys came across this question and cant seem to find a reference for what the answer is, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Which of the instruments fitted within a fixed wing aircraft under 5700 kg operated to the VFR, in private operations (non agricultural) may be unserviceable ?
a. Airspeed indicator
b. Altimeter
c. Compass
d. Clock
Kind Regards
J
I suspect the answer sought is (d) clock .. for which a pilot may carry a watch in lieu. MELs and like documents can muddy the answer for simplistic questions so that needs to be kept in mind as well.
One needs to keep in mind that the regulatory suite goes a long way further than, say, just the VFG .. and all the paperwork needs to be part of the pilot's background knowledge if one is to keep one's nose clean.
A useful starting point for this question is CAO 20.18 which you can source via the CASA website at URL https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2015C00342.
