Hi there,
It could be stupid question but I just want to double check.

Legend of PCA

Estimated VHF coverage at 5000FT
Estimated VHF coverage at 10,000FT

Is that mean coverage from MSL to either 5000FT or 10,000FT?

So if you have been asked

Could you expect to have VHF radio communications whilst at 5,000 FT?
for the area which is estimated coverage at 10,000FT

Text book answer is Yes
Thank you
Leif

Hi Leifie,
No, in the darker purple areas they estimate you need to be at 10000ft to get FIS on VHF. At 5000ft in the dark purple areas you will be so low and so far away from the transmitter/repeater station that even the earth's curvature blocks the signal.
It is however safe to say, in the 5000ft light purple area, if you are at 10000ft, you will be able to contact FIS on VHF.
Cheers,
Rich
