Hi all,
In the revision test for part 5 [Q30] it says that the most important cue in judging height is texture flow on the ground. I haven't come across this term before and wonder if it is described or defined anywhere? I can take a guess at what this means but would like to be confident.
Many thanks,

Not my area of expertise but you might like to have a look at some of the links in this search -

Thanks for the reply John. I had tried to look up this term myself before posting, and have read through all the front page results on your specific search too.
Unfortunately I must admit I am no closer to a confident understanding of this phrase.
I am guessing that texture flow relates to the pilot assessing the approach "...by noting the rate at which the terrain passes beneath him" (pg45, para5). When taken in context of the whole paragraph/page, this is a description of false perceptions and illusions (relating to sloping terrain), so I am not sure if I have guessed right and this is in fact the most important cue in judging height that the revision question/answer is describing.
@bobtait have I missed something here or am I just overthinking things?
Many thanks,
