I’m referring to the exercise, Fig 1.17, bottom of page 27, RPL/PPL Study Guide Volume Two, November 2018 revision.
I think the the answer is 700 Metres, however couldn’t find the answer in the book.
I have included a picture.

700m sounds good.
12m obstacle requires 240m clear space to make the 5% gradient required.
With the 80m to the obstacle, we need to lose 240-80=160m from the field.
This leaves us with 860-160=700m for the takeoff calculations.
