G'day mate,

CTAF(R) no longer exists. They are called non-towered airports. Carriage of a radio is mandatory around NTAs. To be classified as an NTA the airfield must be either military, certified or registered and "not towered". (Found in ERSA)

This pretty CASA booklet might be worth a look.

It outlines the relevant airlaw references.

See also AIP ENR 1.4 para 3.3

The phraseology is flawed, IMHO, however it describes the broadcast area as 5,000' AMSL.
