Question on Heli cloud and vis in Class G.
Rules state "at or below (whichever is the higher of) 3000ft AMSL; 1000ft AGL, it should be 5000m visibility and clear of clouds.
In the illustration that is used (copied from VFR guide) it shows the aeroplane below 1000ft agl but above 3000ft AMSL.

I have understood the diagram to mean that the aeroplane is above 3000ft AMSL (the higher of the two), so would this make the cloud and visibility requirements 1000ft vertical, 1500m horizontal and 5000m vis??

Have a look at aip enr 1.2 (attached).
Let's say you want to know what's the visibility at 5000ft amsl.
You find it is 2nd row (item 2, below 10000ft), however it says subject to items 3, 4, 5, 6 ,7), meaning you have to satisfy all items below prior to addressing item 2.
Basically start from the ground, then go up.
