Hi,
Could you please clarify around the Variable Reserve for this question.
Fuel on board at take off = 110.8
Less FR. = 17.25
Less Holding. = 17
Then divide 1.15 to get the FF..... But from my understanding we haven't added any VR to the fuel on board at take off. How can we subtract the VR to find the FF if we haven't added it in the first place?
Should it not be 110.8g at take off plus 15% so we know the total fuel on board at take off?
Also, if we do calculate a PNR while airborne, doesn't variable reserve become irrelevant as its a planning measure only and once in the air becomes FF?

Maybe I just answered my own question that the keyword is USEABLE fuel so if we add what we have used to the NDB then minus the reserves from what we have at takeoff, we can work out the safe endurance and the PNR?
