Hey all, I recently began flying lessons and am up to circuits on my next lesson. Just wondering if anyone has any great tips on how to get better making radio calls, I know most of them but once it comes time to make one I have a bit of trouble getting it out right. Any suggestions. Thanks

Hi Matt,
Here are some general tips, and I'm sure others will suggest more:

* Turn your bedroom/bathroom into a CTAF/Class D/Class C airport. Get a clearance to enter the shower, to taxi to the toilet, or to land on the bed - that sort of thing. Sounds mental but it's good practice and practice is everything.

* Try tuning into LiveATC on the Internet and get your ear tuned to the common calls. What you hear often will be easier to say in practice.

The common point is practice, practice, practice. This will quickly get you over the "stage fright" everyone has when they first start making radio calls.

Cheers,

Rich
