Hi Al just wondering on take off and landing charts when taking in to account for slope and wind say you got a runway with slope down but has a tailwind then you have a runway with a head wind but with a up slope do you do a trail for both and see of comes out the least?

Hi Linc,

Yes, if you get a question where there is a light wind of no more than 5kt and a slope of 2% or less, then you need to look at both runway directions. If the wind is more than 5kt then you must take off / land into wind since the maximum allowable tailwind component for take off or landing is 5kt. If the wind is light and variable (VRB) then simply take-off downhill or land uphill.

Cheers,

Rich

P.S. I've moved this topic to the Performance forum.
