Hey everyone….a lot overwhelmed at the moment… as a self study student, I’ve been looking back over what we can take into the performance exam….
So …it says Part 91 CASR and part 91 MOS
Part 135 CASR part 135 MOS
AC 91-02
Well… CASR.. civil aviation safety regulations.. yes?
I assume they have not been any amendments, because you can only buy the complete thing… which I already have…. I have part 91…. No 135… it’s from 2019….
MOS. ? Where the … do I find them? Do you download?
And the AC 91-02 .?
Again..what have I missed?
Im starting to panic a lot…
We only use to take a CAAP ….
Can someone help?
I’m very very worried that now, with all the changes, 8m going to bomb this exam again… I can’t..l I’ve done all of them now except for this one….
Part 91 https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2021C01233
Part 91 MOS https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2021C01308
Part 135 MOS https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2021C01303
https://www.casa.gov.au/search-centre/rules/part-91-casr-general-operating-and-flight-rules
Plus the mapping documents help as well https://www.casa.gov.au/mapping-civil-aviation-regulations-casr-parts-91-119-and-135-australian-air-transport-operations-smaller-aeroplanes
The main thing is most things are the same just different references the fuel requirements for CPL haven't changed the thing you have to look out for in the exam is the distinction between private and charter (what they call Air transport operations now)
Thank you stuart…. I can only imagine you will absolutely swamped there….
Another question :\ I know I’m sorry…… but I looked up what was allowed in the exam….
AC 91-02 says it can be taken in… however it’s AC 91-15 that has the fuel table in it… as I think was pictured in one of the other comments….
AC 91-15 cannot be taken into the exam as per permitted materials

Hi Stuart,
I have just checked the extracts and I believe the IREX extract has now been updated and the update is approved for use in the IREX exam. Can you please confirm before I get it printed and bound. Thanks for you work during this busy time with updates.
Steve
G'day Steven
You are correct the extract has been updated and is able to be downloaded https://www.bobtait.com.au/extracts
and is approved for the Exam
Cheers
Hi Stuart,
Unfortunately the Extract doesn't appear on the list of approved documents - see my other post. Can this be sorted?
The list used to include the statement ' approved extracts'.
Steve
G'day Steven
I'll get confirmation from Gavin, as he has indicated that we can use the extract.
Cheers
Thanks Stuart,
I had a reply from Gavin today.. The material is permitted with the same previous conditions of use. Hopefully they will add this again to the website
Steve
Thanks Steven I didn't think there was an issue with the extract but it's better to have it in writing.
Cheers
I'm sure this must be a very foolish question, but I just can't get my head around it - are we really supposed to print out all of CASR & MOS 91 and 135? It's something like 500 pages!
Is everyone taking full copies of 91 and 135 into the Performance exam?
I have put together an extract of the material that is relevant to the Performance Exam. It will shortly be posted on our web page. However you must be aware that CASA has said that if you use the extract and you find that an exam question relates to information that is not in the extract, you cannot use that as an argument to have your result revised.
You are correct. The vast majority on the content of the CASRs and MOSSs is in no way relevant to the Performance Exam.

Thank you so much Bob, you're a lifesaver!
Edit: Passed the exam :cheer:
Congrats on passing!
Wish I knew this extract was coming to save me printing the whole lot! I did ring the office and ask, it wasn’t avail then
Any surprises for the exam? Did you have plenty of time without having to rush or run out of time? I found with online practice exam ran out of time, it seemed to have so so many echo, alpha, and long answer questions majority of exam.
Thanks for any help, looking at sitting this Tuesday
Cheers 🙂
I actually ended up taking the full documents into the exam, since I'd already gone to the trouble of printing them as well and I wasn't 100% sure there might not be something in there that wasn't in the extract (needn't have bothered). The extract was still very useful for preparation as it's a quick read through of the important content and once you're familiar with it then its easy and quick to find the right section of the complete document.
No real surprises in the exam, I found the Bob Tait textbook excellent not only in terms of covering the content but also emphasising the right things - if you're taking the time to do all the examples and practice questions then you should feel pretty good in the actual test.
After putting quite a few hours into just drilling the key problems (boring but worth it) I didn't have much time pressure in the exam. I reckon it's not enough just to remember how to do each type of question, you actually want to practice a bit till you can do them quickly and without mistakes - not doing this is what has tripped me up before. Also, start with the questions worth the most points and take your time on them right at the beginning of the exam, way less stressful than trying to do those last with the clock ticking down.
Best of luck with it, you'll feel so good once it's done and out of the way!
