Dear Bob and Richard,
I am aware that Point of No Return calculations require the inclusion of holding requirements at the departure aerodrome, but do Equi-Time Point calculations, and indeed exam questions, ever consider the holding requirements at a departure or destination aerodrome?
Cheers, rubber

An ETP calculation makes no consideration of fuel requirements in any situation. The ETP simply tells you which action requires least time - returning to the departure aerodrome or continuing to the destination. If any holding or alternate requirements apply at either end, that must be considered separately.
Note that the ETP formula contains no term for fuel on board at take-off.
