Just got a few questions about Pages 5.8-5.10 in the June 2010 Met book.

Page 5.8 has the question in 'interpreting the chart' asking how many col's there are in the given MSL chart. I cant determine the exact location of this col and was wondering if somebody could point it out.

Hi 172,

The col is at point C. Remember a col sits between two highs and two lows.

There is a high marked off the QLD coast, the other high is at point B (it has a ridge extending M->N). There is a Low marked south west of Darwin and the other is south of Tassie (marked A).

You can also confirm that C is the col because the isobars are convex to it and the isobars are the same on opposite sides (check out the 1016 mb isobar lines to confirm this).
