Hi all,
Just a quick hello from me over in Perth π I'm Michael, I'm 24, been flying for a few years now but decided I really need to pull my finger out and get my career goal on track so thats what I'm doing!
Have had Bob's CPL study books for a while but only recently got my head into them after gaining PPL in January. Since then I have got my NVFR rating, aerobatics, tailwheel and very recently CSU & retractable endorsements. I plan to have my CPL by December and have my name down for the instructor rating course starting in January next year. Sat my first exam last week and got 85% for aerodynamics.. Admittedly some silly mistakes that I corrected in my head on my drive home (unfortunately they still don't count  ), but thanks to the practice exams I really found the exam quite 'easy'. Meteorology is booked in for July 7 and I'm really looking forward to that one! No sarcasm intended...
Liking the new website, great job guys!
Take it easy
I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.
Michael,
Wow, you sure are getting on with it! Congratulations on passing Aerodynamics - it's actually one of the hardest subjects to do well in, especially by home study, so I can't see you having any problems with the others. You don't have to be ashamed to admit that you are looking forward to Met. It's one of my favourite subjects as well... Go Michael go..
Bob
Cheers Bob yeah it took me about 3 years from zero hours to PPL because I was sort of blasΓΒ© about it and while still working full time trying to fit hours in on the weekends and days off. Dodging weather can set you back a little bit as well π
Enjoy!

Thanks Michael, I'm glad the new site is coming over ok despite a few initial teething troubles π Welcome aboard and please make yourself feel at home.
See you around!
Cheers,
Rich
P.S. I agree with Bob - Met really is awesome!
I must have come across the wrong way, my bad, I do enjoy met!
Cheers guys

Well I enjoy it, but apparently I'm not good enough at it yet! Did the exam yesterday and failed by one solitary mark. But now I think of it, rather that than passing by one mark, because now I can relearn some stuff (and the KDR tells me it's pretty much the same area I got wrong) and get it all right next time!

That's the spirit mate. I bet you'll get it next time with that attitude! Hope to hear the good news soon...
Bob
Hey,
Sat CMET again today and felt much more confident, got a pass with 80% this time but I think I really let myself down on this one.. Not to worry =) Doing Nav in a couple of weeks, think I'll be right with that one.
Cheers

Congratulations Michael - great job! Another one down. How many have you got left now?
5 to go, including Nav..
Thanks mate!

Good luck with the Nav study and don't hesitate to post here if you have any questions. Speaking of which I'm having a think about your met question - I'll post over on that forum after I've checked it out a bit more. Bob will give a definitive answer soon I would imagine.
Have started already =) Sorry my question is a bit wishy washy, I couldn't remember it exactly, but I hope you catch my drift.
Cheers

Just got home from my AGK exam, got 83% but I must say I'm still fairly disappointed with that. This was the one subject so far that I knew I would nail. I must kick myself though for losing out on 2 marks having to do with the COLOUR OF AVGAS!! Other KDR items were Pitot tube blockage, abnormal engine instrument indications, fuel vaporisation, wastegate operation and boost pump operation. All of which I thought I had a good knowledge of, but alas, I am deficient in.
My lord CASA really need to spell and grammar check their exams, it's ludicrous!
Funny story, I barely even got to the exam today, the lower radiator hose on my car jimmied itself loose, spilling coolant and overheating. Then I had to run into Woolies and buy 2 big bottles of water (I know, but better than nothing) and threw them in then hooned off to ASL with about 10 mins to spare. Just as well I left an hour early.
Cheers
PS. btw how does CSYA = Aircraft General Knowledge? I thought I was in the wrong exam haha

G'day Ellzy!
Just saw your post. Congratulations on the pass and that despite the chaos of the drive! Well done mate.
Ok, so you might feel a bit disappointed but you shouldn't cane yourself. You passed and can move on to the next subjects.
You have undoubtedly brushed up on the stuff mentioned in your KDR and just think - you'll NEVER forget the colour of AVGAS now π
As for the meaning of CSYA:
[C]ommercial: [SY]stems [A]eroplane ???
Richard,
Yeah you're right about that one mate. It's funny, I always seem to come up with ways to remember things like that. 100LL comes 'before', ie. lower than, 100/130. B comes before, ie. lower than, G in the alphabet. Put it together and waddya get? 100LL = Blue. 100/130 = Green.
Ahhhh if only I'd thought about that for a few seconds whilst studying =P
Next stop, Air Law!
