Hi there. I am currently studying for my PFIR using BT's IREX Book for the theory. Is there an easy way to determine what theory I can ignore when using the IREX book for a PFIR exam. Alternatively is there a good PFIR only solution.

Hope this makes sense

Many thanks

Anton

Hi Anton,

I am not aware of a PIFR specific textbook since there is so much overlap in the PIFR and the CIR.

As for which sections of theory you can skip, that would very much depend on which endorsements you plan to include with your PIFR. For example, if you are not going to add ILS to your PIFR (CASR 61.935, Item 23 in Table 61.935) then I guess you could skip the section on ILS in the book. Since the PIFR theory exam can be set by your school, why not have a word with them about what they want you to know. If they require a pass in the CASA IREX exam (which is not uncommon), you won't be able to leave anything out.

Cheers,

Rich
