I am wondering would a DME arrival within past 35 days cover you for a VOR co-located with a DME approach or would a 2D approach within the past 90 days cover for a VOR with a co-located DME?
The 35 day requirement no longer applies to any approach, it is has now been superseded by the 90 day requirement of the CASR. According to CASR 61.870 a DME Arrival is now just another 2D instrument approach, so recency on a DME Arrival in the last 90 days would cover you for any 2D instrument approach. Under the old system (before CASR 61 became effective) the DME Arrival recency only applied to a DME Arrival but under Part 61, it is a 2D instrument approach with CDI Guidance and as such is just the same as an NDB, VOR or GPS instrument approach. It doesn't matter whether these approaches are flown with the assistance of a co-located DME or not, there is no additional requirement for the use of a co-located DME.
Hi thank you very much and sorry for the late reply. This part 61 has been getting to me.
