Hi guys, I cant get my head around question 2 (ex 2.1 page 103).

The answer in the book is "D - 2 GNSS other than TSO 129."

However, Part 135 MOS Chapter 11 para (3) says you can have 1 GNSS and either 1 NDB or 1 VOR.

Part 135 MOS Chapter 11 para (8) says if the aircraft was made prior to 2014 then the GNSS can be TSO 129. The aircraft in the question was manufactured in 2010 so I think the answer should be C.

Where am I going wrong?

LM11, I have exactly the same question as you. I also keep getting "C" as my answer to question 2, for the same reason as you.

Reading Part 135, 11.09, I don't understand why an aircraft manufactured in 2010 can't just have a TSO-C129 GNSS and an ADF or VOR.

Stuart, unfortunately the excerpt you pasted doesn't help me understand it any further. I keep reading it as saying that it's allowed to have 1x GNSS + 1x ADF or VOR, and the GNSS can't be TSO-C129 *unless* the aircraft was made pre-2010, which it was. So it can have 1x GNSS (TSO-C129) and 1x ADR or VOR.

Are LM11 and I both having the same misunderstanding about something?

There is no year of manufacture mentioned in question 2 on page 103.
Open Errata page:
https://www.bobtait.com.au/updates-and-errata/24-irex-errata
Search "Page 103", then search "Page 145"
Hope this helps

The question does not state that the GNSS was installed before 6th Feb 2014, and that is a prerequisite to allow a TSO-C129 GNSS.

Thankyou Bosi72 and Stuart. I have mainly been using the (paper) book, which I only bought this year so I thought it would still be current; and also sometimes the online book - which I assumed would always be up to date since it's online - so didn't know to check for errata. The question I was reading said 'manufactured in 2010', but if the question has been changed then I now understand why the answer is different too.
thanks

G'day

You misunderstood, the question hasn't changed, it only stated that the Aircraft was manufactured in 2010, it said nothing of the GNSS.

Part 135 MOS chapter 11.9 (8)

to have a valid TSO-C129 GNSS you must meet both criteria.
