Hi Bob,

A question regarding the use of GPS in lieu of DME,

If you are at an A/D which has a VOR & NDB & DME/GNSS approach, and you're doing a DME/GPS approach, would you set the GPS to VOR or NDB for distance information?

On the top of each GNSS ARRIVAL chart you will find the nav aid to be used under a heading 'GPS REFERENCE WAYPOINT'. Also AIP ENR 1.1 para 19.4.3 does say that the order of preference for track keeping if you have the choice of more than one aid is - LOC first, RNAV GNSS second, VOR third and NDB last

After using NDBs operationally, there is absolutely no way I would choose an NDB over literally any other form of instrument navigation. They are beyond hopeless!!!
