Hi all
Just wanted to ask what the current licensing rules and requirements are for DME usage in IFR
Pre Part61, I believe the requirement was for a logbook entry if you wanted to do DME Arrivals, but no logbook entry required for DME+NDB or DME+VOR approaches.
I haven't seen DME specifically mentioned anywhere in the new regs.
If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
cheers
Mike

When an NDB or VOR instrument approach chart has "NAV AID RQ: DME" in the top right-hand corner of the chart, there is no specific requirement for the pilot to hold an 'endorsement' on DME. There is no such thing as a DME endorsement. The DME is simply used as a source of distance information, it doesn't provide any tracking information.
