Hello
Could someone please help me with the following question.
You are tracking from Adelaide to Mt Gambier via W519. After station passage at Lake Albert, you encounter significant icing. The lowest cruise altitude you may now descend to in IMC at this point is:
a)3800ft
b)3000ft
c)2700ft
d)1500ft

The LSALT for the last route segment is 2700ft, and since the question asked for the lowest cruise altitude, I picked 3000ft from the table of cruising levels, and was wrong.

Thanks in advance

Gidday

See AIP ENR 1.7 para 3.2.1

If for any reason you cannot maintain a proper IFR level for reasons such as icing etc, you may fly at a non appropriate level providing you advise ATS and give way to any conflicting traffic. So in this case, you could descend to the route LSALT if necessary to avoid the icing region.
