Hi Bob and Co,

I have just gotten back to studying for IREX after taking a couple of months off to prepare for the CPL flight test (so I'm quite rusty).

Please find attached image for the question.

How can the Hobart DME reach Strahan to get a positive fix?

You are at 10,000ft. The rated coverage of VOR and DME is 120nm at that height. You are within the rated coverage of Hobart VOR/DME. AIP GEN 1.5 para 2.3,

Ahhh yes of course!! I had forgotten that the DME range is the same as the VOR as listed in AIP.
